Making the Era of Capacity Possible

The advent of the Apple 3G iPhone and proliferation of wireless computing platforms are driving a new wave of mobile broadband service demands. Users are no longer satisfied with voice services only, and multimedia connectivity via mobile devices has become the new benchmark for every day interactions.

As demand for multimedia interaction increases, the per-user bandwidth consumption also increases. The focus is no longer simply on improving mobile coverage for voice services, mobile operators need to find new ways to improve wireless capacity where end users consume mobile broadband services.

E-RAN: A New Category That Refines How Radio Access Networks are Deployed

SpiderCloud Wireless provides the industry’s first Enterprise Radio Access Network (E-RAN). The SmartCloud E-RAN is designed using a central control point inside the enterprise LAN that provides wireless session management to the cluster of small cell radio nodes. This is the only way to scale mobile broadband deployments inside the enterprise--standalone small cells do not scale in enterprise deployments. By adopting the enterprise Wi-Fi system architecture and applying it to UMTS small cell technologies, the SmartCloud E-RAN system delivers a category-defining solution for mobile operators to deploy mobile broadband capacity to enterprises. Mobile operators are in turn enabled to monetize their spectrum, increasing service penetration, and driving mass-scale adoption of indoor enterprise mobility solutions.
